Ella Fitzgerald was originally from Newport News, VA and it would have been her 100th birthday this April, 2017! To celebrate, Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News is holding a traveling art show with local artists giving their interpretation of songs sung by Ella.
My piece, featured here, was done especially for the occasion. Ella’s Centennial celebration officially runs from April 2017-April 2018 internationally.
About Michael Morgan
Michael Morgan currently lives in Virginia Beach, VA. At 40 years old, he has developed many different styles and themes and his more recent works particularly exercise abstract expressionism and portraits of famous individuals. He studied art at Hampton High School and Mount Saint Mary's University. His favorite types of art are Surrealism and Expressionism and his artwork has been accepted and included in a number of shows, with several awards along the way. He is also currently the member of several local art organizations with pieces showing in several galleries. Michael's primary media is pencil, pen/ink and acrylic painting.
