Description
This piece was created with a technique I am recently using for a certain body of works using a figure-eight motion. In these types of compositions, I freely let the repeated, continuous figure-eight motion drive the piece. In this particular one, there are several tower-like forms that protrude into the sky from the landmass. The idea in this piece is to evoke a feeling of ascension or conversion from one thing or place, to another. In the piece, the figure-eight technique is applied mainly vertically and horizontally, which generates a certain contrast for the overall composition. The more shuffled figure-eights used to render the landmass represent current life. At certain spots the figure-eights are rendered using a more stacked technique, thus creating the tower-like figures. These vertical figure-eight forms fade into the sky. Because the sky was horizontally rendered using the figure-eight, it now involves a repeated infinity-symbol or sideways eight motion. The towers seem to kiss the sky, without having any real end, having no topmost point. This helps to convey the idea of ascension, as the tower-like forms have no end and eventually rise up to and become the infinite sky.
